  • I have wanted to tell my Family for so long.......... I don't know how to tell them.

  • Don't disagree with you. When i got mugged i was also so surprised that i didn't really shout.resist.

But I was taught too, that i shouldn't go with any random unknown adult. And I firmly believe that for example, phrases like "our little secret" & "special friend" can be taught to kids as danger-phrases. In general, we can teach kids stuff. 99% of the time they'll get fooled anyway, but it's that 1% that you know you could've done something about, and haven't, that'll kill you.

  • I'm not saying one shouldn't tell kids about it, I mean, it's each parents' choice on how to try to prepare they're kids.

My point only was, that people (of all ages) usually fall for bad things even if "prepared"; that once in the heat of the moment, you get sort of paralyzed, and that you shouldn't judge a kid, or that kid's parent for falling for the "special friends" crap. As much as you might tell a kid about those situations they're still, as the episode states, in the age of innocence.

  • Not telling your kids about the bird and the bees and who not to do that with is NOT protecting them. This is the great stupidity of the neoKKKristians these day, who aren't actually Christians. Do you also tell them to close their eyes when they cross the street?

They dont get emotional about rape.

Sure, we're all caught in the headlights but not allways. I train my kids in the hope that they will have presence of mind. But if they don't I hope they are too dense to react to bad stuff.

  • Well yeah, you do. What I mean is most kids are in the situation I described. Besides, (and I really don't mean to sound rude) I doubt any kid, even if very informed, would act any differently. It's just like being robbed; everyone says they would "kick the guys butt" but if they're confronted with the situation, they just go stiff...I know I did. That's all I'm saying.

  • my kids are 8 but i've explained to them what they should do and not do in those situations. I don't "protect" my kids by not telling them about sex.

  • Well, yeah, because, you know, kids are new to this world, and each of them has a different and innocent mind. How can they possibly know what those words are about?

  • Sheez do kids still fall for that "our little secret" and "we be special friends" crap?

Liv is great, she's gonna be a very rich actress like Reese W. or something.
