I read that since the guitars and keyboards were all recorded by "direct inject" (no mics), and drums were recorded in a soundproof booth, Billy called out chord changes to the rest of the musicians while recording this song.

The LP promo label (pressed by Columbia in Pitman, NJ, with label copy type therefrom) looks like it was before the "I Wrote a Simple Song" title was added on at the top. I will say, if I were to buy a copy of this album, these are the typefaces to be seen.
