Hermione Granger has been in love with Ron Weasley since their first year of Hogwarts. Instead of teasing and bullying him like some boys did to girls they like, Hermione acted like a huge know-it-all and even more so around Ron. All she wanted was for him to notice her. He probably wouldn't have if it wasn't for Harry and his big heart and concern for her when that Troll was roaming the school.

Being as daft as he is, Ron failed to notice the looks or the slight movements she made towards him. He failed to understand what they meant and was more focused on his own racing heart. To Ron, Hermione was something he could never have. Something he didn't deserve. He was far from rich, he lacked good grades, he wasn't the Chosen one and lastly, he didn't have any special skills that made him stand out from the rest. His hair was the only thing that made him stand out like a sore, bleeding thumb.

Hermione tries to get advice but no one seems to be of any help. Awkward Gryffindors are very awkward.

In the end, the two just slowly and on their own, try to come to terms with the fact that their friendship will never grow into anything else.
