  • Sounds fantastic. Man, I have a 08 traditional and I"m thinking about dropping in a PG pup in the bridge first. Do you think I wil get in the ballpark of your tone?? LOL.

  • @4937645 Thanks man, you will definetly get in the ballpark with a pickup swap. From my understanding, the SD pickups they put in these guitars are a little different from the standard Pearly Gates you get off the shelf, but you can call SD and get these by special order.

  • are they gone forever or can somebody still buy one?

  • @sweetguitars i think there are still some out there. They pop up on ebay from time to time and I think daves guitars has one on there site.

  • which marshall is that?

  • @dbenc Its the Haze 40 combo, 40 watts, 1 12in speaker, 2 channels. The half stack in the background is a 1983 3203 artist and 1960 cab.

  • try an E minor there bud. No major 3rds in this tune. nice axe

  • It´s E minor man.

  • Bill once showed me how to play this, and he does the long Em7 chord way up at the 7th fret; high E string (7ftret), B string (8fret), G string (7fret) D string (9fret) A string (7fret). Try it, very ZZTop!

  • Also I have EMG 81 and 85; usually noted for their use in heavy metal but I found them more verstatile than I thought....thought of changing them out though since the Pearlys have a great blues and old rock sound...are both of your pups pearlys???

  • May I ask how much distortion you are using and also are you using compressor at all?

  • nice playing

  • I've played one of these ( my brother owns one) and it has tones that regular Les Paul does not do because the pickups are wound like the pickups in Billy Gibbons 1959 Les Paul standard guitar that he named "Pearly Gates". Youtube cannot do these guitars justice. The list price was $11,176 US dollars

  • Arguably it's the most unique-sounding guitar and as a hand-built model from the ground up, it for me, represents the greatest achievement in musical history.
