Sacramento Kings Sold to Seattle

The roller coaster ride is over in Sacramento, as the Maloof brothers have agreed to sell the Sacramento Kings to an ownership in Seattle. Paul Flannery of SB Nation NBA comments on the development and what it means for the basketball team -- whatever it is named next year -- moving forward.

Sacramento sold out 19 of 28 Kings seasons and Seattle only sold out 3 of 41 Sonics seasons.

If Sacramento didn't care for the Kings, Seattle must have HATED the Sonics.

Sacramento HAD deep pocket investors (Burkle and his group) offering to buy the team since 2011 but the Maloofs rejected them with a comically offended tone.

Sac actually tried to buy the team but they Maloofs have a vendetta against Sacramento so they never gave the city a chance.

Unlike the Maloofs, Schultz actually looked for local buyers but none of them stepped up. He set a price of 400 million for the Sonics but billionaires in Seattle didn't want to buy the team.

Don't forget that all of the terms for the Maloof-Hansen agreement have NOT been divulged. We have a ballpark of the sale price BUT why did Hansen & CO. already fwd. $30 M? Can the Maloofs even TALK to anyone else about a purchase? Probably not. Is it in the NBA BoG's best interests to reject a "strong" group like Hansens? NO. Sorry SAC..but this is collateral damage from something that none of us had any control over. Your mayor is a good guy but despite his best efforts..this team is SEA bound
