Peter Wingfield, as Methos, reads selections out of "An Evening At Joes", an anthology of writings by the Highlander team.

It's cliche, but I truly mean it. This is a man who could read a phonebook and make it sound like Shakespeare.

I think it was from the Season Five box set, at the end of the big Methos documentary on the Extras disc.

  • You're right, it's the first of the "Postcards from Alexa" from the "An Evening At Joe's" anthology.

I remember seeing some footage from a convention where he actually began reading the phone book... and it sounded great! :)))

  • Now that's got to have been a real treat!

I just got a hold of the book. Neat how the change from the book's third person narrative to a first person monologue, made it all the more intimate.

  • long live Methos!

  • I came to be his fan when he became Methos on Highlander, but he is unabashedly one of my favorite actors. It cetainly never hurts that he is Welsh, and his voice has a gentle lusciousness about it, that seems to calm me.

  • Love this clip. It's so flipping hot!

  • *sighs* Oh my gosh. I think I just fell even more in love with Methos! Others have said it, and I'll repeat it: I would pay good money just to hear PW read the phonebook! *melts*

  • Postcards from alexa was my favourite story in an evening at joes shame he didn't do it all.

  • i love methos in love

  • Wonderful...this is just the most perfectly performed illustration of marriage as the union of blood-pumping eroticism and spiritual love. Peter Wingfield strikes a balance between poetic theater acting and understated storytelling. And...tee hee, ladies, give this comment a thumbs up if he managed to get your blood pumping with this performance. :-D

  • OMG!!! That's enough to set me on fire!! 

  • what a great actor. few men could have pulled off that dialogue and made it not cheesey. Amazing! They should play this clip to men eveywhere who ever asked "what do women want?"

  • @Seannaholic well, he *is* immortal =)
