My first attempt at rotoscoping a lightsaber. Video originally from test-cutting with a katana against swordfodder.com sword targets, featuring one strike too low.

I did this in one pass, without any additional corrections or touch-ups after the first rendering, since it was just a first try.

Interestingly, since the source video is interlaced, and the fxHome software thus breaks it out into 60 frames per second, the resulgin video here blends the frames back together, so during the swings the blade appears to get dim (averaged and in two positions per frame). Still, the WMV version looks quite real in the swings.
