Last Train to La Veta 2011

Scheduled for diesel lead. Instead, #18 does the honor of pulling the last train of the season from Alamosa to La Veta Colorado and return. The whistle is conducted by a train whistle expert on board. Look in the train windows for happy passengers. Snow is early for the San Luis Valley, an Alpine desert valley. I miss the return, on this sunny warm afternoon day. No hint of the morning snow. Train arrives Alamosa on time. I am gathering my equipment to walk to the tracks for the usual arriving time when the whistle blows arrival! 00:00 Alamosa Station and downtown yards 02:45 Rio Grande River trestle.

@TheDeputation Yes. #3 is in Alamosa. I think I have some footage shot between #3's drivers and boiler, and also #3's smokebox, catching #18 leaving or arriving in Alamosa. Expect to run across that footage this Winter. #3 looks sad.
