A broad-concept based video lecture on Hamilton's (and the Federalist Party) economic policies as Secretary of the Treasury under Washington. Includes a sprinkling on the Federalist Papers, the Whiskey Rebellion, tariffs, the National Bank and the National Debt.

  • If HamilSCUM were still alive i would shoot him. For America!!!

  • I think Hamilton felt that if we were in debt to many countries, that they would be obligated to invest in us even more. I was confused when I first heard that but I think I understand now. In the John Adams HBO series "Hamilton" explains it.

  • That's absolutely true. Andrew Jackson threatened South Carolina with military action during the Nullification Crisis. In doing so he reaffirmed the powers of the Union and also neutralized temporarily one of the factors that 35 or so years later would serve as a spark for the Civil War. You have a wonderful channel, and I thank you for providing this so badly needed source of education about our history. Most Americans are widely ignorant of their history, and what you're doing here is awesome!

  • Hamilton was awful.

  • hamilton is the Best!

  • i would like a lecture that compares the hamilton vision of america with the jeffersonian.the more stuff from you the better!

  • thanks for the vid! :)

  • Oh ok - thanks for responding! :-) You said two on the video so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info - I love your videos!

  • Mr. Hughes here.... The only direct case I know about is McCulloch. I group Marbury, McCulloch and Gibbons together under the umbrella of Federal Supremacy and expansion of Fed. power under the Marshall court. I even nickname GW, Hamilton and Marshall with the middle name Schwartenegger. Sorry I don;t have another case, there may be one out there, try oyez,org.....

  • What was the other court case that illustrates Hamilton's view of the National Bank? You mention McCulloch vs. Maryland - what is the other one?
