Long before containerships took over the Royal Interocean Lines and Holland East Asia Lines merchant marine were a common sight in the then large HK harbour. I traveled twice to and from Europe to Hong Kong with these ships.

  • Excellent movie clip! My complements. At that time I was already 12 years at sea and I just love these older scenes. Are you still in the far East or back in Holland? I am about your age, may be a year or two younger and still involved in shipping but just to keep busy. Life at sea is unfortunately not the same anymore. Thanks again for above posting.

  • @seesint Nice to hear of you. I'm in Holland now, but have fond memories of the time.

  • High Quality Video !!!! Mr. Michael Rogge, Thank you so Much !!! May I ask a question that " Royal Interocean Lines and Holland East Asia Lines" is related to " Royal Nedlloyd Lines" ? Which was eaten by 'Maersk'

  • @kwcli - Indeed!

  • My father owned a shipping company there and worked with Dutch Freighters. Thanks so much for posting this

  • If there is a time machine, I'd like to travel to that period of time in hong kong

  • hardly seen clear sunset on the hill nowadays.... harbour was wide spacious, clear hillsides surrounding the harbour, all gone now.

  • Great shot across the harbour to Kowloon, from the same spot as the opening shot from ' Enter The Dragon '. I just got back from Hong Kong today, it's so very different now but I'm glad the Clock Tower and the Peninsula Hotel are still there.

  • miss the old Hong Kong. Thanks ! Mr.MichaelRogge.

  • WONDERFUL!! THX A LOT!!
