i remember saturday afternoons at the roxy you could get in for 3d- 6d or 9d at the back happy days

i used to get the 76 bus from newton heath,i remember having to queue round the block too,return of the jedi,and jaws 3d-they gave you plastic glasses which didnt do anything,also seen brewsters millions here-not a big hit but as a kid i enjoyed it,many happy memories were spent in this picture palace,also remember coming out starving and wondering where the nearest chip shop was-before the bus turned up.

I saw many films in this cinema when I was a kid. Ghostbusters 2, Turtles 2 are the ones I can remember.

Roxy Cinema was fantastic and always smelled of Zoflora. I was born in 1943 just up the road and from about 9 on i went with my mum and my auntie to the Saturday night flim. My sister and her husband worked there on Saturday kids show time. My mother had nothing in her life but the pictures. Very sad it's all gone now. I live in France but always look at the Roxy spot when i go home.
