Since 1992, weve increased the energy efficiency of our global operations by 28 percent.

I have read your post and it dosn't seem convincing. Chevron is trying to pass on the blaim to Petroecuador and even though Petroecuador is also not environmentally responsible itself, it has not produced the amount of damage that Texaco had between 1970-1990.

This is great but how does Chevron save the Amazon River and its local indigenous groups?

@camporomero Thanks for your comment. Texaco (now owned by Chevron) has not operated in Ecuador in nearly 20 years. Chevron never operated there. Prior to leaving Ecuador, Texaco spent 3 years and $40 million in remediation & received a full release of any future liability from the Gov't of Ecuador & community leaders in 1998. The current conditions in the Oriente are the responsibility of the Gov't of Ecuador & Petroecuador (the state owned oil company). Please visit our blog TheAmazonPost

Chevron has profited from Texaco so that makes Chevron part of the situation. 40 milliion clearly is not enough for 18 billion gallons of toxic wastewater left behind by Texaco the sole operator between 1970-1990. Three years is not enough when you consider the years spent damaging the environment and destroying peoples lives. And 40 million is not enough to treat the people who have suffered from sickness and cancer.

The lawsuit is for the period 1970 - 1990 or is it not? Also, why did Texaco give money to the Ecuadorian government to clean up their mess. Everyone knows that the money dosn't get to where it needs to go, otherwise there would be no such thing as poverty in this world. This is all so corrupt and clearly not about humanity.
