This is the second of two shorts I made on the films of Ronald Colman. This 11 minute video captures images from the American silent films he made between 1921 and 1929. [NOTE: As I could not find any images from THE ETERNAL CITY (1924), I used instead a title card.] I hope to interest people in the life and work of Ronald Colman. The other video on his sound films is available only through the facebook movie group: "The Ronald Colman Appreciation Society." Everyone is invited to join!

  • Love this so much. I am a huge Ronald Colman fan, and I am enjoying these very much.

  • Excellent photo montage, musical background and insightful research!

  • WELL DONE SIR!

It is a travesty that these films cannot be seen on DVD - or better yet THE BIG SCREEN!

It seems particularly odd that Beau Geste - one of the most successful of all silent films, cannot be seen (all though there is poor quality print on YouTube).

  • Lost?!? Which of Ronald Colman's films are lost? And here I was looking forward to seeing so much more of him on film...

    :(

  • Beautifully put together! I wish fine prints were available of all these films, but alas some are lost entirely. Colman was a superb actor, and certainly an influence upon Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Errol Flynn, Laurence Olivier, and many others. He and Greta Garbo made the most successful transition from the silents to the talkies in all of Hollywood. His best performance in the 1930s may have been as Sydney Carton in the 1935 film adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities."

  • This is excellent! It's a perfect tribute to the silent films (I like the very last picture). It IS a treasure. :)

    My thanks.

  • Thank you for this treasure.
