This is a look at the making of "DREAMLAND" - a cd featuring Brent Spiner & Maude Maggart. The CD harkens back to radio's golden age, with a love story that is told through classic songs, characters, dialog and sound FX. Part musical, part radio drama and part film noir, the concept for this "audio film" sprang from Spiner's becoming a partner in a recording studio (the one featured in the video). Miss Maggart is well known in the cabaret world and brings a wonderful haunting quality to the dreamlike narrative. All in all, it's a uniquely romantic escape that stands apart from ordinary cd's and must be heard in it's entirety to be fully appreciated.

Here's what people are saying.....

"INGENIOUS" - The Wall Street Journal

"If they give out Charm Awards somewhere, Dreamland would be a sure winner...In the wrong hands, this endeavor could have been treacly or self-consciously labored. But, with humor and what feels like a natural and willing fit for old radio-style drama and non-condescending fondness for songs where romance is the be-all and end-all, it all works".
- Talkinbroadway.com

"The most romantic cd you'll ever hear"
-Your Wedding Day magazine

"A wonderful throwback to the radio days of old and a thoroughly enjoyable 50 minutes of entertainment...One thing that I couldn't help but yearn for, is a full cinematic version of this album. That's what I thought at first, but when I thought again, I realised that like a good book, I've built the whole story up in my imagination and that is where it should probably stay."
- Indielaunchpad.com

"Dreamland is a wonderful, thought-provoking adventure that invokes nostalgia for classic romance. There were moments when I was incited to laughter, enthralled with suspense and nearly moved to tears. The performances are first-rate."
-listener review

"A huge breath of fresh air. Once you start listening, you get swept away into the story and almost feel like you're watching it unfold right before you."
-listener review

"Each 'retelling' enriches the movie I have playing in my head. Eventually, I'm sure I'll be able to listen to something else.. but for now, I'm going to enjoy the rich tapestry of imagination that is Dreamland."

"Best damn CD ever!"

  • Brent Spiner is an excellent actor and he's a great singer. *sighs* I wish Hollywood could see his full potential. But i guess it will not happen (maybe in 50-100 years). Maude Maggart has an excellent voice. I think the same like jenlyn77. I love this video and I love the music. I would like to see the USS Enterprise-E or Enterprise-F. Star Trek needs a sequel.

  • i think that i may have just fainted....his voice is fantastic! i adore that man

  • @CoAvsAndTheFray I totally agree! :D

  • 1:48 made me want to have that cd =)

  • I would love this even if it didn't team up Data and Luke Skywalker.

  • I met Brent yesterday and he is lovely and really funny. I love the fact that he can be super emotive, whilst becoming infamous with such an awesome but deadpan character (Data).

  • people who watch this should watch this, too: youtube.com/user/freshhellseries (Brent Spiner) -- Thanks a million, Brent!

  • I must get this. He offers personalized autographed copies on his website. I'm off to get one. Happy Birthday to me!

  • Fabulous! Brent just gets better and better! Love the music, love the video - wonderfully entertaining and he couldn't have picked a better singing partner than Maude Maggart.

  • @L1C1T1 That, I believe, is a cover of Frank Sinatra's song In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning. I agree, it's a wonderful cover he did :)

  • what is the song at 1:49 called??
