plzz answer mee ..how u make more hair strands ???
-
I know this tutorial is kind of old, but I'm having some problems with fiber in Lightwave 9.6. There's one particular model I'm using that generates fiber on all of its layers except for one, and that layer is the only one I actually need fibers on.
Whenever I try to give it hair, it asks me for a numeric value for the first parameter, rather than a percentage value . Even then nothing shows up. I was just wondering if you would know any possible reason for something like that happening.

oww! thanks man

nice tutorial thx for it
cheers

You have lots of great tutorials, Im subscribing to you now. It is probabl a good idea for me to look more deeply at modeling and bone techniques in Lightwave first though

Thanks for understanding. Your tutorials are great, Im sure the answer is here in this video, somewhere. But, time is a factor, and I am starting out with comics first, and the solid object hair might be more toward the classic comics style, anyway. Im too noob, for this, at this point. I havent even read through all the manuals, yet. Ill come back to Fiber FX, later.
everytime i try to render a frame just after activating fiber fx, it says it has crashed, and no matter what i do, it crashes, im using lightwave 9.5, is there a patch or something i could use to fix that?

@kovedg Well, the reasons for this are myriad. It's really impossible to say. For starters, I would say start by making sure all the normals of your model are pointing int the right direction. Make sure there are no "doubles" by removing any 2 point polys in the Statistics menu. Also, try the very lowest number of hairs that looks good.

Sorry for the insane-ness of my last comment. I was just frustrated from failed attempts. It's not my learning capacity that's wrong, it's Newtek's explaining that's wrong. It's all out of sequence, and the things you need to know are mixed up with things you don't need to know. It's like putting together a puzzle in a video game. I actually worked all day today on Fiber FX, doing the procedure step by step, and I finally got hair. But, it wasn't exactly what I need.

I feel your pain.Newtek just released a ton of excellent video tutorials that show how to use the hair plugin in a user friendly manner.Anything like hair, clothing, dynamics is inherently messy in 3D.You will not find any shortcuts to good work in those fields. Poser does good hair, but the animation tools are not up to the rest of the world.
There is a very good reason why the big 3D movies have 15 minutes worth of credits at the end of a movie. The tools are getting better, so keep the faith.

anybody know if the fiberfx need an specific graphic card to show properly on the opengl space? because when I check the draw buttom nothing happens

I haven't heard of any problems using certain video cards with Fiber FX. Try downloading new drivers for your video card. If it is still not working out then contact Newtek support.
