"Global Competition and the Rise of the Second World"

Conversations host Harry Kreisler welcomes Parag Khanna, Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation. Their discussion focuses on the emerging world order characterized by 3 empires - the U.S., the European Union, and China - and a rising Second World which, benefiting from globalization, has greater opportunity for self definition internally and influence externally. The conversation elucidates the shape of this new world and its implications for U.S. foreign policy.

  • Almost finished his book, I think he is more journalist than political scientist.

His ideas are worth engaging with anyway though.

  • Berkeley needs to update that midi theme. Rockin' some old school beats is one thing but sounding like a 1982 vintage 8-bit video game lends the opposite of credibility.

  • @lugench ...and Barack Obama... back to Africa. You, to the asylum.

  • Yup the New America Foundation, giving or selling away America one piece (not peace) at a time. Its a sad day when in U.S. history foreigners have more say so in American politics than its citizens actually do. Mr Khanna since you like the Middle Ages so much go move back to India, I hear they still practice the Caste system there, the closest thing to serfdom. Or since you like China I'm sure Hong Kong love to have you on board they have gloabal ambitions just like you do.

  • Just found out about this guy, through TEDtalksDirector. Gonna order his book straightaway! I'm from holland so delivery will probably be a bitch, but it'll be worth it!

  • i love this guy

  • Seriously...

  • LOL. I agree. The video looks older than it is. The host too !!!

  • Reading the book now, very good. Comparable to Zakaria's Post American World. But where Zakaria is guarded about predicting sudden and significant changes in the world order Khanna seems to be seeing all around us today.

What's really amazing is the insights from this kid whose only like 25 years old... youngest kid to ever read Toynbe.

  • Thanks, i love you Berkley!!!
