@joni2691 I remember that too, I grew up by Kingston and watched Channel 5 all day and night. Remember "Reel Camp"?

This is the sound of my late night childhood and teen years. Man, what a great station WNEW AM 1130 was.

You gave a lift to a lot of New York area insomniacs by putting this up. Many's the night I heard this before finally making it off to sleep. I'd heard Jean Shepherd 9:15 to 10, then any baseball that might be on, and if I were still awake I'd hear this song. Other nights I'd hear "The Nightcaps," a late night talk show which was on when Larry King was also a radio talk show host.

Really glad you captured this, but this audio has clearly been over-processed.

I recall listening to Jim Lowe hosting Milkman's Matinee during the mid-1970s. As a teenager I enjoyed the WNEW lineup (Gene Klavan, Julius LaRosa, Ted Brown and Jim Lowe, especially) and all their wonderful music. Even though I lived in Pennsylvania, only about 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia, I got the WNEW signal clear and strong any time of day or night!

One thing that no one has mentioned:In the 60's and early 70's,the NYC TV stations signed off around 1 or 2 AM.This was the only game in town.

@joni2691 Yes; recall the announcer for Channel 5 reminding us to tune to 1130 for all night music on the Milkman's Matinee.

I remember as kid they used to play this on the old channel 5 WNEW-Metromedia station when it was signing off around 2 or 3am. Them were the days my friends!
