In 1989 Pontiac was bursting with excitement and still chasing the youth market. This dune buggy like concept car never made it past the auto show circuit but it showed there was still a pulse and sense of fun at the company that launched the muscle car craze.

  • They should call it the Pontiac Mentos.

  • Looks ridiculous, but still better than most 80s cars.

  • @SeberHusky my uncle works at gm and he has driven many of their concept cars, this being one of them. i asked him last night what they did with it. i'll see if he can contact someone in upper powers about bringing this back for 2012

  • @TheSouthernhunni

If that is the case, then someone needs to sweet-talk GM to take this for a 2012 test drive, at least! It's 23 year anniversary is coming up!

  • @SeberHusky in a warehouse under a tarp waiting for another run. general motors keeps even failed concepts in warehouses

  • Hahaha someone in the ad department watched a little too much baywatch !

  • Ford also had a concept like this, at the same time. I think they called it Splash, But, when I look it up, I just get that shitty little pick-up.!

  • It's the Aztek's long lost uncle!

It's based around pretty much the exact same idea (a sporty, kinda rugged, fun vehicle for active young adults). They both have a lot of that dark grey plastic, too.

This one's a lot cooler looking, though.

  • does anyone know if this car survived?

  • Looks like someone went back in time and put this car there! Most 90's cars looked like rolling blocks of metal, not at all sporty looking like this Pontiac...

  • that video rocks

  • This is the only one in existence...I wonder where it's currently at....
