Legendary producer / engineer Ken Scott and Supertramp drummer Bob Siebenberg discuss and demonstrate their work on the sample and groove library, EpiK DrumS: A Ken Scott Collection from Sonic Reality. http://www.sonicreality.com
At first I couldn't understand him looking for subtitles to read. But then I realized he was an American. Just a simple American who probably didn't study while acting up in school. Just what in pray tell was he doing playing on a British band?
@av8r63 Is this recording of this song the original engineering by Ken Scott or the result of Larry, Moe, and Curley deciding it would sound better highlighting each instrument and bringing them out to the forefront?
One of my favorite drummers. Bob's simple, but melodic grooves of Supertramp's "Hide in Your Shell" accentuate the song beautifully. Notice the smartly placed off-beat note on the snare as Roger Hodson launches into the second verse of the chorus @ :34 and :51. That might be the snare he has been using since '77 - a deep chrome 6.5 x 14 Ludwig Super Sensitive. Listen to that classic Ludwig crack during his impromptu solo toward the end of the video.
