  • This is from the end of "The Ed Sullivan Show" because I remember the end title music.

    I really meant "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster".

The ABC "Circle" logo is the longest lasting of all of their logos. The other ones were rather short lived, like the "Big A" logo which was used between the fall of 1957 and through the summer of 1962, before being replaced by the "Circle" logo in the fall of 1962, according to a network presentation logo card that was used after an episode of "He's Dickens, He's Fenster" in October, 1962. All of the other logos, such as the "Eagle" logo of the mid 50's were even more shorter lived.

  • This was always my favorite CBS logo. Since my town only had 2 tv stations for 20 years and CBS was a primary network, I saw much CBS programming as a kid. Then I worked for a CBS / ABC combo station for about 37 years and saw many logos over the years. The lens iris eye is still my favorite.

  • This is a filmed I.D. used between 1951 and '68, mostly at the end of CBS' filmed TV series distributed on 16mm film to local stations for "delayed broadcast" purposes, although this was seen at the end of some of their live telecasts during the '50s as well. The audio portion, however, is from the end of Ed Sullivan's "TOAST OF THE TOWN", circa 1950, which used a "CBS spotlight" I.D. (the letters "CBS" under a spotlight). The actual outcue used for this: "This is the CBS Television Network".

  • I agree; that disturbed me

  • This is at the end of some of the b&w episodes of Whats My Line, but GSN credits crunches it.

  • Republicans/conservatives need no help from David Letterman to look mad, the Bush Administration has accomplished that feat with little to no assistance from the Democrats. CBS is hardly liberal. I used to love CBS until it began complying with the Bush Agenda, now I prefer PBS.

  • a bit freaky!

  • I am a liberal American. My grandmother was a friend of that damn progessive Republican Teddy Roosevelt. Interesting how radio has made robots of simple minds!
