if you ever need to attach wood to metal... or basically anything else... i would sugest these two epoxies.... jb weld if you need a solid bond, or another epoxy called liquid welder if you need a rubberized and slightly flexible bond.
jb weld is fairly common, and the liquid welder is a 1 part epoxy (no mixing) that comes in a red tube (unless they changed that within the last year or so)
sand first, then wipe with some rubbing alcohol, then use epoxy.
