The Alevis in Turkey make up to 20% of its population; Alevism is a religious sect of Shiite Islam that have had become an independent religion. There are Turks, Kurds, Arabs, Zaza, and Turkmens who beleive in Alevism. In Turkey, Alevis have no right to establish or build their own houses of worship. They are forced to assimilate with the main Turkic Sunnite Muslim Stream.
