Breakaway, Chapter 16, PART 1/3 (A Jonas Sister Story)

"Brey, I sarted, how can a card fall into your sleeve?"
Some of the casting directors laughed at our adlib scenario. Little did they know, that my brothers had this exact scene every time they played cards. Brey and I knew it like the back of our hands. This was way easier than the script reading a while ago.
"How does rain fall out of the sky? Questions we may never answer, Linley."
"Didn't we study the water cycle in the 2nd grade?"
"Okay, okay," a man in around his 50s said, cut. "That was brilliant adlib!"
I did a knuckle touch with Brey, and we moved forward to their table.
"Do you two know each other?" A lady asked.
"Yes, we do." I said with a smile.
I was still pumping up with adrenalin. Every time I perform, I never get enough of it.
"Great! Do you guys know what this show is about?"
"Actually, we don't." Brey said, sort of ashamed.
"Don't worry son," the man said, "no one knows what this show is about. But lets just say, you two are perfect for the two main roles."
"Really? Thats awesome!" I said, "Thank you."
"But its not only my opinion that counts here, unfortunately. So, I'll tell you what,"
He stood up, and pulled me and Brey to the side, as the next pair came in.
"Do you two sing?"
"Um, yeah." Brey said, not bothering to ask me.
"Dance?" The man asked.
"Yeah, sure." I said, not bothering to ask Brey.
"Perfect! Since I really like you two, Im sending you in on another audition. Its a musical. I have your addresses from your resumes, so Ill send you a letter of recommendation. Ill send one for this audition too. But here, write the dates down for the movie auditions."
I took out my phone, and started typing the details he was giving me.
"Thank you, I said, Mr.-"
"Dave. Dave Keevo." He said, smiling.
"Thanks Mr. Keevo." I said again.
As Brey and I turned around to leave the studio, Dave called me again.
"Linley!"
"Yes, sir?"
He brought his voice down lower, trying hard not to draw attention to us.
"I would use Jonas as my professional name if I were you."
My eyes widened. He watched the interview. He remembered me. Aw! Im memorable. So touching.
"My papers are going to be done by next week, and actually, its legally Jonas by Friday."
"Great! I'll se you two soon, okay?"
"Yes sir."
"By the way, Braden. Why arent under your fathers agency?"
"There's sort of a conflict of interest. Dont you think, sir?"
"I agree. Well, goodbye you two."
He ruffled both of our hair, and we headed to the studio doors. I ran my fingers thru my hair, trying to fix it.
"As your brother would say," Brey started,
"Awkward." I finished.
We opened the double doors, and I felt the warm air rush into the studio, sending a chill down my spine.
"Hey, Braden, wanna go visit the JONAS set? I'm pretty sure their still taping."
"Yeah! C'mon. Race you!"
He started running, slowly, and I followed catching up. He knew that it still sort of hurt for me to run. But the doctor did say to exercise, so here it was. Pretty much my exercising scenario. Pathetic if you ask me.
Brey always tried to get me to follow the doctors orders. Ugh. Mean? I know.
"So not fair Brey." I groaned.
"I didnt say it was gonna be fair, Jonas." He said with a cute smirk on his face.
