i love this sound of life in 16 cylinders, it sounds like... power GE's brute force ... Too bad the FDL engine is no longer in production but... GEVO is still a evoluated FDL. good job
-
impressive,the 7FDL's were the backbone of GE since they start making locomotives,now the evolution series is the new power

@thunderstormX92 But those still sound badass when they start. Sounds like a damn monster coming to life.

@iRECKONER lmao

I can't understand the point for the delay between turning the start FPES switch to start and the prime mover beginning turn.

All GE haters just heard the sound of a 3+ to 1 better selling product in the last few decades. I love all Locomotives, but would like to remind the typical GE hater that there is a reason Class 1's have chosen them over EMD. It's called "Listen to this video"

I HATE the sound of GE locomotives starting...

How do you hold a flashlight, a camera, and have a free hand?? LOL
Keep at it railroader!

so what year was the EMD SD40, from the other video? I see the newer one is more quiet the the other ones

@greywolf45 GE, have only ever made 4 stroke diesel engines.
Hey could someone give an example of about how loud this sounds in real life when you start up the engine? Like compare it to something with a similar sound level

@Trainaholic2946 It sounds like a locomotive starting LOL :) As far as sound level? I guess I would compare it with a lawnmower running with no earplugs, at idle she is not too loud. but give her some fuel :)

When did GE's Dash 9's go to 4-stroke engines?
greywolf45 2 years ago
as far as i know, they have always used a 4 stroke. EMD uses 2 strokes.

@TrainCamera This surely isn't an air start as the previous commentor said. Doesn't have that WHOOOOSHHHHHH that the EMD engines have when their pneumatically started.

@mattdean1003 This is an electric start. The generator is used to crank the engine..
