October 10, 2011. Spanaway, WA. Near Frederickson. The driver and his female passenger both in their 20's decided to steals tools from a job site in the 5300 block of 147th Street. The witnesses attempted to hold the suspects at the scene but they fled in a dark colored Saturn. Responding Pierce County Sheriff units spotted the fleeing couple and the chase was on. Speeds reached 70 mph on Canyon Road East has the wanted party attempted to hit a patrol car, blew stop lights and briefly drove on the wrong side of the road.
The driver attempted to make a high speed left turn at 200th Street East and Canyon Road East which failed in the wet road conditions. The vehicle overturned with the driver being ejected, landing in a ditch and the car on top of him. He has serious injuries but with survive. The female was also transported and treated to lesser injuries. Both will be booked into the Pierce County Jail upon release from the hospital.
This happened at around 7:30PM. Fortunately no innocent parties were hit by the suspects during the pursuit. The Pierce County Sheriff is investigating the accident.
