  • Very nicely made. I look forward to hearing how much power it can produce.

  • I'm expecting about 3 watts :-)

  • Hi Mike, Great minds think alike, I have not made any measurements yet as it isn't sited at its final resting place as you will see in the video the wind here is very turbulent.

Also the wings are only expanded polystyrene covered in brown paper

    and havn't yet been fibreglassed.

It starts on its own OK as I am using a

    flat bottomed airfoil section.

I'm considering making some more wings with NACA- 0018 sections for comparison .Best wishes, Cyril

  • Very nice Cyril.

You'll get more than 3 watts though.

I'm guessing at least 300 on a comparable day.

  • get a 90' pole and triple RPM.

  • Actually, you could probobly get about 400 watts out of that. i bet ya!!.. ;)

  • Cont'd: Can you measure tip speed ratio, (TSR) ie ratio of blade speed to wind speed? My versions always self ran up to about TSR=1. I had to add powerr to spin them up to about TSR=2, then they produced real power and accelerated unloaded to TSR about 4. But then you need a brake or risk serious injury trying to slow it down any other way. Looking forward to your updates! cheers Mike

  • Barrumman, you sure did a nice job once again. As it happens I've done a bit of work on exactly this type too. It is a bit hard to estimate what the rpms are from the video as it tends to strobe the three blades. -Mike

  • Nice work on the castings. What speed will it produce electric power at and how much. That is when you get a gen. connected
