I'm sure it's already been suggested and worked on somewhere, but some sort of Google/Wiki map system. Approved users, suppling pics for Google Maps and perhaps an algorithm that could figure the "top" of an object with tracking points compared with multiple picture uploads near the same area. Using GPS for ease of determining location and automatic updating... Never mind I think that's what is being done by Google, with one of the photo apps and a map video I vaguely remember watching.
