Taxi ride through the mostly pedestrian passageways to Piazza Farnese, home to the French embassy and, to its right, the convent dedicated to Christian pilgrims where we stayed.
I called my best friend, who was there with me, and she said it was the "Blue Ice." There were several of them, if I recall. Anyway, it was fantastic and if someone here could make the authentic gelato (not what we call gelato here in the US), they would make a FORTUNE.
Hmm, can't recall it from our own stay, and just being a gelato place should have flagged it for sure... Must still be thriving though, from the sound of it.
I do recall that whole area was a mecca for sweet little restaurants, with barely lit tables out front, people chatting and laughing long into the night. And no traffic. Unbeatable atmosphere.
This is the exact route I took from Da Vinci airport to my room at the Casa di Santa Brigida there on your right. This was in October 2004.
Something that is driving me crazy...in the alley between Piazza Farnese, heading to the Campo di Fiori, on the left-hand side....there was a place that sold the most fantastic gelato, with neon colors everywhere. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that place. Does anyone know it?
Yep, no question, the Italians have ice cream and pasta down pat...
