I have heard of animals going to places that have a salt lick or natural salt so that they can get the salt they are missing. We used to get slt licks at the feed store and put them in our swimming hole to keep the leeches away.

i dont understand why do the sheep need to eat SALT?
WonderWomanFan4life 1 year ago
@WonderWomanFan4life The grass they eat doesn't contain the salt they require/want (salt is of huge homeostatic importance). As a side benifit, you can add more salt, so they take smaller amounts of the mixture and vice-versa.

@goateesod
what??? homostatic?? is that like homosexual? LOL just kidding bro.
homeostatic is related to or characterized by homeostasis which is The ability or tendency of an organism or cell to maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting its physiological processes.
Sooooooo can YOU So break it down for me in SHEEP speak bro

@WonderWomanFan4life Sheep speak eh!? :)
Salt (NaCl - The sodium Na is the vital part) is required for some basic cell funtions, as well as muscle functioning contracting and relaxing. Not just related to sheep though. But seeing as that is what is on the farm, that is what we are dealing with.

Yes, I'm not too sure what his point is, as it is all being self administered. If a sheep doesn't want it, they don't have to eat it.
