No Pedals!.........Proper solo at the end and this is a quick Demo using the newly acquired 1958 historic les paul and my also newly acquired Polytone MiniBrute jazz combo. No Pedals, just guitar, amp and lead. Polytone has a clean channel and a fuzz channel, this is obviously the clean channel, i mean, derrhhh, the fuzz channel....and the amp has REVERB on it....bass and treble and volume... I like this amp actually, people seem to slag 'em off but I think it has a great quality to it....for a transistor amp it has a great sound.

  • Which model is that and what size speaker?

  • @G7flat5 This amp is the mini brute iv from around 1979/80 ish and has a 15 inch speaker......

  • Have the same brute amp. It made me a lot of dow playing weddings and shows. It never let me down. A good well rounded amp for my gigs without breaking my back. I'll never sell this little rig/thing.

I used to be a dealer for Polytone back in the days and Joe Pass came in my store while endorsing that line of amps. I should have Joe sign it then,...too bad and too late now.

PS..Great chops, great solo. Love tha stuff

  • @DJ2entertain way cool......thank you.

  • I like the amp a lot. I heard the distortionchannel sux. But does the amp take pedals well?

    Thanx

  • Thanks...I like the distortion on this amp and I like the clean sound...so I have never tried pedals with it......

the distortion is kind of harmonically rich fuzzy transistor vibe....it sustains into feedback nicely and as I say, I like it....

    all the best

  • Very nice playing.

  • Very good soud. I didn´t know it this good distortion. I have a Peterson P100 G, the clean channel is awesome but other...forget it!

So I use pedals and it does well.

  • nice tone!!!!!!

  • @MedicineMelanch0ly Pierce and Hartley Thompson made great SS amps too. And you may remember Pat Metheny playing the old Acoustic amp brand way back when. Those were great clean sounding amps.

  • great stuff

which version of the minibrute is this ? i'm on the market for a new amp for my archtop but that could also give a nice rock sound, this sounds like it !

  • That sounds amazing ! Really great improvisation

  • That's fuckin' epic. Great playing too.

I wish there were more great SS amps like this, but at an affordable price given how much cheaper it can be to make one than a tuber. You have pretty much the Peavey transtube stuff and that's it. I'm not sure I like the overdrive voicings on the Bandit(the cleans are amazing but don't break up) so I'm kind of stuck at the moment.

  • Very nice!!! I tried a Polytone once and hated it but I heard a player tonight use one and it sounded great, George Benson recorded Breezin with one, the top players around here use them. I'll have to check one out again.
