@epcarrolljr You are sooooo right the 141 and 121 were beautiful!

This brings back memories I was a Crew Chief at McChord from Feb. 1974-Aug. 2011.Chew for ever.

@Lugznut - How right you are. I was a maintainer on both the A and B models at McChord for twenty years as an ART Crew Chief. I was in one of the first groups to transition to the C-17. As much as I liked the C-17, my heart will always be with the C-141. We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this late fifties, early sixties, designed aircraft keeping them flying. I always felt good flying on them either training or on real world missions. Thank for the posting. SMSgt USAFR Retired

I flew C-141's out of Dover AFB, DE with the 20th MAS. I never called it work! What a beautiful airplane. Always nice to look back on great years like that!

It is sad to know that this beautiful aircraft is no more. I was a FE flying on them in the 4th MAS at McChord from 75 to 82. Fond memories.

Gentlemen, my father is a retired CMSGT of the AF and was an FE on the 141's at wright patt AFB here in ohio. I have had the honor of working with them as well in the fire department. I also had the honor of being on the hanoi taxi's final flight. it truly is an amazing aircraft and just like the members that flew them you all are missed and highly respected! thank you!

There have been two aircraft that could be called "beautiful" The C-141 Starlifter and the C121 Super G Constellation. Navaids flight line supervisor Dover AFB 1966 to 1968. Remember the LTF? "Lead The Force". Absolutely a beautiful aircraft.

@pillpilot Hi I was in 21st Air Force Command Post, I was flight following the 65-0274 that day. I got off shift not knowing the fate of the crew and plane. The air traffic control in that area was terrible, it was thought that they were cleared to decend to an altitude below the mountain tops...the aircraft hit the face of the mountain...the only debris recovered went over the face of the mountain onto the reverse slopes.

I was right down the hall in the 701st during the same time frame, 1979 - 1994.

Do you remember anything of a flight from Charleston of a C-141 that hit the top of a mountain over the Andes in 1974?
pillpilot 2 years ago
Yes, I remember that flight. One of our flight engineers, Carl Church was on that flight. Bld 60 at Charleston AFB is named after him and was just redicated in his name this past July.
