I just listened to a podcast about the whole incident. They said that the "ghost" story was actually front page news in Sante Fe and was picked up by national news services. The "phenomenon" was recreated (with permission from the courthouse) with ladybugs (although most feel it was probably a spider). The story of the debunking was later breifly mentioned in the C section of the newspaper. Apparently "debunkings" don't sell newspapers very well and aren't put on the front page.

I read first also, but if it was a bug why is there pixlation distortion at a 45 degree angle away from the squad car? Was the sun shineing toward the camera? If so it could be a shadow of the "BUG" as well. Do ghosts cast shadows?

Yeah, I'm one of those that read the article THEN saw the video. But still... the fact it's some bug looks pretty obvious (as people have said). Did anyone REALLY believe it was a ghost?

Im a security guard and I cannot believe that people would think this is some sort of ghost. This exact thing happens everyday with my cameras. Its just some bug. And I find its a spider most of the time.
