Finished the golf ball netting on this driving range cage in the Hudson River on the west side of Manhattan, NYC, at Chelsea Piers. Final step was putting the parabolic scalloping on the top edge of the netting to represent the sagging between the anchor points where it is held up by clamps attached to cables suspended from the tower structure. You can see from the jumpiness of the video that the geometric complexity is severely affecting the frame rates of the simulation, so why I am leaving it as is at this stage, to prevent any further degradation of the video experience. The best way to approach this object is obliquely, meaning to fly past it and to not directly look at it, then it does not have that much of an affect, and it behaves like as if there was a lot of normal scenery objects in the vicinity.
I have some difficulty trying to fly a helicopter and record a video at the same time, so why it looks like it is crashing at the end. I hat to let go of my controller to reach over to the hot-key to stop the recording. Just ignore the talking which was a radio show I was listening to while I was doing this. I did not even think about it until I was done, and di not feel like doing it over since it is kind of a pain anyway.
