On top of the dome basilica at the Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, New York; starting with the 13 feet tall statue of the Virgin Mary, then the view of the shrine's buildings and grounds, statues from the avenues of saints, the rosary pool, and the Niagara escarpment and Canada.

  • I have to block SWSimpson to post any more comments, due to anger issues.

  • AND, the Catholic church does not teach that Mary appears in different clothes. (altho some frocks are fabulous enough to be in a fashion show) Those are different interpretations of her, by different cultures, for differnet reasons. Perhaps the Catholic church is more adaptable than you think. Maybe you should reflect on your own prejudices and ignornace before writing them, and sounding defensive and, well, like a jerk.

  • There is freedom of religion in this country, so go ahead and bow down before your idols made of wood and stone if you want to. Go ahead and make excuses for the torture and murder of millions of people in the name of God, by way of the inquisitions and crusades. Its your right to view history as you like and believe in a corrupt and evil institution if you want to.

  • Are you suggeting that the ancient Egyptians didn't kill for their religion, or enslave others to build their idolatries? If so, you are wackier than I thought. Again, I just recorded it--I'm not making excuses. At least I am able to see that ALL cultures are capable of heinous acts, as well as passion, tolerance, fondess, etc. I guess as long as you have some "good art" to look at, that is all you care about. [sarcasm]

  • If Mary really did tell the 3 children of Fatima to wear itchy ropes under their clothes because suffering pleases our Lord, then Mary is a bitch. Human suffering does not please our Lord- Christ suffered and died for the sins of the world so we would not have to suffer. I find ancient Egypt to be fascinating, not the Fatima shrine- At least the Egyptians knew the difference between good and bad art.

  • So you are a culture vulture, that happens to find ancient Egypt fascinating. Good and bad art comes from ALL cultures. BTW, the ancient Egyptians killed a lot of people due to their religion(s) as well. I find it fascinating that you put down idolatry, yet seem to practice it with your fascination for ancient Egypt.

  • Catholicism as much b.s. as other religions .. not more so. It's not as if the Romans and Egyptians created religion.

  • Catholicism IS a Christian religion. Catholicism was also a response to Roman religion(s), and yes, has some pagan roots. Why is it such a big deal?

  • Why do you think that I worship this? I just recorded it. You must be on crack. Did I say I worship this? Why are you so angry?
