If you think about it, how is this America's Got Talent any different? They always put through goof-ball ridiculous acts in front of the "judges". The Gong Show was the true leader in this, but they never even attempted to present a "serious" show. By the way, Chuck Barris was NOT on drugs and highly opposed it as he was fighting a losing battle trying to get his daughter off drugs.
