UW-Madison storm chasers Dan Henz, Dima Smirnov, and Victoria Vasys spot a tornado or two, 6 or 7 wall clouds, and many other atmospheric phenoms across south-central Wisconsin on 22 July 2010. The best vortical action can be seen at 3:04 and 7:04. Some of the video was fast-forwarded for times' sake and to highlight rotation and updraft-downdrafts. Forgive the shotty filming skills! It's tough holding that little camera still in a car and/or gusty wind.
So since I imagine you have quite a bit of meteorological knowledge I have to ask a question. I live in La Crosse and last year when I was working at the airport in the spring we had a big T Storm roll in, the temp instantly dropped 20 degrees or so and if you looked about 700 feet AGL (above ground level) you could actually see clouds being made, an by that I mean you could see clouds appearing out of clear sky and ascending. What kind of activity was going on and was I in danger?
