Let's do a playthrough of The New Zealand Story for the NES, a pretty decent conversion of Taito's ultra-cute arcade platformer.

In The New Zealand Story (otherwise known as "Kiwi Kraze" in the US) the unthinkable has happened - Wally the Walrus has kidnapped almost all of the island's kiwis! Things may not be as bleak as they first seem, however - Tiki, a particularly brave kiwi, has evaded capture and vows to rescue his flightless friends from a fate worse than extinction.

Let's help Tiki complete his mission!

  • Emulator or hardware?

  • @bencheshire Emulator - specifically, the Mac version of Nestopia. I own the physical cartridge, I just lack a method of recording directly from hardware at present.

  • You do playthroughs of some of the most obscure games. It's kind of awesome.

  • @Jobexi Thanks! I figure everyone on YouTube has a Megaman 2 or Super Mario Bros playthrough, so why not try something a little different?

  • Warning: After watching this video, the game's music WILL be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Guaranteed! :-)

  • class game and colours..like it lots.

  • I have the NES and Amiga versions of this game. Both play well but I like the music on the Amiga version over the NES. But both are great games.

  • For some weird reason, the instrumentation used in the music reminds me of pirate titles such as Somari. Except the music in this game is a ton better.

  • I love this game. SOme great level designs found here. I have the Turbo Grafx 16 (Jap) version.

  • where did u get the rom for this game

  • That whale scared the crap out of me as a kid! I can't belive it, I used to dread it soo bad lol

  • I remember this game! I used to love it. Thanks for the memories. :)

  • ...What does this have to do with New Zealand, though?

  • Thanx for the memories
