Well folks, I got the dreaded "T.O.S. Violation" notice today. Looks like I'll be having to re-structure my future reviews a bit as a result.

This is especially irritating, since I JUST finished a special 35-minute Christmas Edition of the Multimedia Chronicles, in which I talk about (and show clips from) some of my favorite Christmas movies as a gift to you all.

Guess I'll just post it on my website, but unfortunately that will now have to be put off until AFTER Christmas... So much for being topical.

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. I only EVER used clips within the context of my reviews, which are technically NEWS items and thus any clips used within the CONTEXT of that news item falls well within "Fair Use" under U.S. copyright law.

Anyway, this is my quickly thrown-together rant video about it. Beautiful high definition text set to gloomy music by yours truly. Enjoy.

UPDATE: I appealed the claim and WON! The Blackstar vid is up, ads are enabled, no more black mark on my account, and all is finally well and good. And it only took 8 months! Woohoo.

Seriously, go to Mike Mozart's JeepersMedia channel and see his 'Do You Feel Lucky' video. It's one of those videos that youtube doesn't want you to see.

I KNOW it sounds like I'm advertising, but this guy really knows his stuff, and he can get the ball rolling on things that nobody else here can. That's why youtube won't touch his review videos.

Nope. Doesn't matter HOW you incorporate a video, the footage itself is still copyrighted. Whether you do a direct rip, film the screen, or whatever, it's still the same clip and still the same copyright.

Yeah..no unfortunately the USA is predominately Judea-christian and any deviation, while tolerated, is frowned upon.

Aside from the Big Three (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) other religions aren't widely practiced at all, admitting to being an Atheist is more or less the same as being Outed as gay or having AIDS or being a leper you are shunned by most "polite" society

Youtube are very inconsistent when it comes to policing copyrights. Search for Blackstar and you can find a video showing the full opening that has been up since Jan 2007. Why didn't they take it down?

I have watched the entire series of Lucky Star on Youtube. A year later and the videos are still up. Why don't they take action on that account?

It's a damn shame this happened like this. I thought the video clips really helped get the feel of whole review of each dvd.  And yes that Mike Mozart guy seems to be quite the knowledgeable one. Anyways keep up the great vids and have a good one.
