Today, the tides are turning, even handsome men become objects of desire for politicians. Duran, the queer mayor of West Hollywood, and his partner, on their visit to China. Their story is very much a Hollywood tale. John J. Duran lives openly as a gay man and as an HIV positive individual. He has always been very involved in the development of queer culture and queer rights. He came to Beijing exclusively to be a part of the opening ceremony for the Beijing LGBT Culture and Activity Center and to officiate the wedding of a Chinese gay couple.
