Here is a peer-reviewed paper to search for. Erlykin 2009: "We deduce that the maximum recent increase in the mean surface temperature of the Earth which can be ascribed to solar activity is 14% of the observed global warming."
The scientists who specialise in the study of global temperatures disagree with your opinion. 86% of observed global warming is not from the sun.

I live in a country that has had cap and trade for the past five years. I've not noticed any difference - and our economy may not be perfect right now, but it is in a far better state than the US.

Everybody who has a different opinion than the "science gurus" is viewed as a fringe or a cave dweller.
In my humble opinion most of the people are not stupid (a little ignorant, maybe) and can examine the evidence for themselves, and draw their own conclusions. We don't need to be told what to think, just to be left alone.
Have you seen all the emails of the "Climate Gate" scandal?!? These people have an agenda and a goal, and they are acting according to their interests.

...read I did for many years my friend, this is a very serious matter to study, who we are and where do we come from. The problem is that most of the scientists that publish papers today are apologists for the State, just as the "academicians" of long ago (the priests and monks of the past) for their monarchs. They root for the politically correct way to view things because they know which side of the bread is buttered.

all I know is that I did extensive research on climate change... there is a plethora of scholarly peer reveiwed papers on the subject and only a handful to the contrarary...what do you mean "try common sense"? is that what all us people with no scientific background in this feild of research should do in this situation? main stream media is not the best source for information. try reading peer reveiwed papers on the subject, for or against.

Google "The tragedy of the commons". Public ownership of "anything" fails by any standards to accomplish anything but the slow destruction of the said thing

@ReduceGHGs ..that process is called desertification. And alarm-ism is not the way to fix that problem, I understand where you are coming from. The thing about me i do not jump at the first explanation we hear from the scientific community, it has been known to be wrong before.... I'd rather research the matter myself and draw my own conclusion.
It's called thinking for oneself, and it really works! People should try it more often...

. Dominion over your "own turf"?? What if "turf" is under water? What if "turf" that once was productive is now desert? What if the "turf" (oceans) that once supplied you with all the fish you could eat has an acidity level to high to keep feeding you? Instead, what if we CHANGED our destructive behaviors BEFORE our "turfs" are deteriorated to a point they can no longer sustain us, BEFORE everything "turns upside down, BEFORE civilizations fall and people suffer????

....the idea is that once we take "dominion" over the earth, everybody tends over their own turf.....
Unless the STATE interferes, and decides that is OK for manufacturers to pollute, for a greater good than our crummy property rights, and you can not sue them for damages incurred due to pollution...
Then everything turns upside down, and we get "anomalies" like: free grazing, and over-fishing, and deforestation (clear-cutting), and buffalo extinction, and Al Gore... :0)
