In this slightly tool assisted Downhill Blitz run i manage to get 14995 points without using the secret path. If my run had been 11 frames faster, my time would have improved by one second, and my score would have been 15005. I believe my run was far enough from perfect for score of 15000 or more to be possible without using the secret path (you get 1500 points + the trick points when doing the jump).

The game was run in DOSBox 0.73 (cycles 2000, core normal) with the "adlib" switch. DOSBox was also used to record the original video clip, which I uploaded to YouTube.

Like in the 51-second speedrun ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GHPoPzkBfg ), I used Cheat Engine 5.6 to read and show the same three variables (turning counter, acceleration counter and the frame counter of the timer). As before, I also used CheatEngine to write to the memory to make preparations faster. This time however, I didn't only set the frame counter to 25 before the run, but also set a specific boolean variable to true. The variable tells if you can jump now. Like the frame counter, it does not get reinitialized when you start a new run. So if you end your previous at a moment when you are able to jump, you can jump at the beginning of the next run. That variable is easy to get to 1 for the next run, but using Cheat Engine was faster, and as I had decided to set the frame counter that way anyway, I thought I might as well do both preparations with Cheat Engine. Ofcourse, it is possible to do these preparations without any modifications to the memory from external programs: stop at a place where jumping is possible and then press ESC at a right moment so that the frame counter stops at 25.

Following the small numbers of the variable values (refreshed every 75 ms) in the Cheat Engine window outside the DOSBox window was difficult, as I couldn't properly follow the game at the same time. If I managed to make a program that shows those values so clearly that I don't need to focus my eyes on them to read them (bigger font, bars, colors...), then maybe I could reach 15005 points...

PS. I can upload the Cheat Engine table I created if someone is intrested.
