Nigel Benn VS. Gerald McClellan - 2/25/95 - Part 5

Part 5 of 6: In one of the most aggressive fights ever, Nigel Benn wins as Gerald McClellan takes a knee in the 10th Round and is unable to continue. It would be the end of McClellan's career as he collapsed after the fight. He was rushed to the hospital where he spent 11 days in a coma. When he woke up he was unable to walk, blind and 80% deaf.

he had complications before this fight even took place. after the julian jackson fight gerald was complaining about being dizzy etc ( symptoms of brain damage) i unno tho he killed a dog by tapeing its mouth closed and eyes so karma is a bitch no joke

"What price glory?" What a sad, tragic, foul-infested fight that, even for avid life-long boxing fan such as myself, is hard to watch. But I do not fault Benn. This was a high-profile fight and these things happen, particularly in a fight of this caliber. What is most tragic is that someone should have let Gerald know that at some point in his career when certain fighters are able to take Ur big punches, falling back on Ur boxing skills to set up the big punch is not such a bad idea

Ref should have deducted points but saying those rabbit punches to the back of the head were what caused mcclellans bloodclot is just stupid.  Some people are just not made to box and mcclellan was one. If he had of knocked benn out in the first round someone was just gonna come along and cause mcclellan brain damage later on. His head wasn't made for boxing, simple. AND he had the shittest corner in the world, fucking hate his trainer. it's up to your corner to keep you safe, HAT FAG FAILED

The boxing media doesn't want to say it but they know as everyone else knows that all of those rabbit punches to the back of McClellan's head caused him irreversible brain damage that left him permanently blind and disabled.

this has been said a gazzilion times already but Been should have been penalized by mid ruonds for blatant rabbit punching.. Anyone who boxed knows that even a tap to the back of a head has a major jarring effect on you and Benn was hitting his will full blooded haymakers.. crazy shit..

benn is a good fighter, but he repeatedly hit McCellan behind the head. ref should have deducted points like what happened to khan v peterson fight for instance.Even though in this fight the punches behind the head were more blatant. Funnily enough those punches behind the head were one of few connections Benn was making on McCellan! :L

for some reason in round 10 McCellan backs off, and I guess this is when the damage has started to take its toll. Eyes were blinking rapidly also were a sign.
