I have a problem: I have decided to start writing with my Sigma fountain pen again it has been in a period of disuse for close to a year now after it ran out of ink, I replaced the original blue ink filled disposable cartridge with one filled with black ink, but the pen won't write. I have ensured that the top of the cartridge was punctured.

ty it worked

I have a question: when I tried to switch from a black ink cartridge to a red ink cartridge, the red ink became contaminated with black ink. How do I clean the ink from the top part of the pen so that it doesn't get into any new ink cartridges that I insert. Also, when I take the ink cartridge out, the pen writes normally, even though there's no ink cartridge.

Thank you for the visual aid. It was helpful!

The puncturing is to be done as shown in 1.04. That part has a small pin inside that will puncture the disposable one; puncturing with nib will spoil the pen's nib.
-
So any fountain pen can use a reusable or disposable cartridge?

I don't know why my pen doesn't write if I insert the cartridge correctly.

I try to insert a cartridge in my pen today it was the first time I try and ink doesn't come down then I made a bid hole on top of the cartridge and I got my hand full of ink.

Do you also have a breathing tutorial video?? Please help me, i'm suffocating here.

That's correct. You simply puncture it to allow the ink to flow.

Glad that you found the video helpful. You can definitely swap the cartridges at any point in time. Simply pull out the old cartridge and push in the new one. You will probably want to wait until the ink is completely empty before swapping cartridges to avoid mess.

would u suggest buying my first expensive fountain one from a specielty shop downtown? or should i just start off with a cheap one from china and see if i really like fountain pens? by the way what a 'bladder'? ive heard this term used, its different than a cartridge isnt it?

I wouldn't recommend buying the cheapest fountain pen you can find because you may have problems with it. You want a quality nib and cartridge on your first pen. The rest of the pen doesn't really matter for your first pen.
A bladder is similar to a cartridge except there is a pliable sac that holds ink inside the pen.
Keep reading about fountain pens. You will get some great advice from others about where to start. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
