http://www.yoyogames.com/games/150726-de-3d-human - this game (sorta)

I wanted to add humans to my games, so I spent today making the model, then later this night animating it (not bad for a max of 2 1/2 hours of work )
there is no texture work really on him, cause hes a just the basic model that you edit to put clothes on and face structure on top of, Soon he will have some armour a weapon, or some object to hold, a face, possibly some personality, and of course AI,
this animation stuff is not very easy i will say, im still trying to get his bottom leg part to work independently, yet be like a natural walk. same with his arms.

once thats done I can make him, have objects like, a spear, gun, wand, sword, dinner, or w/e i need, then make him do animations like sitting and climbing stairs/ramps

  • I know this is old now and you probably moved on.

But, when i was making a 2d game with lots of hand crafted characters(not copied ones)

i just added a 16bit sort of style and limited the running animations to 4 frames for humans and 24fps for gigantic robots. This sounds cheap but its good for massive games.

    Some developers do that too.

Or just download blender and copy the animation file.

  • @SafasoTV Yeah I coulda used blender, but then again I was relatively new to 3D at the time so I didnt know how to do that stuff.

btw 16 bit graphics are always awesome =) my favorite generation of gaming by far!

  • I' am guessing this took you 90 days to make with out sleeping 0.o its amazing!

  • @SimonsHappyToxicCake actually it took me maybe an afternoon.

  • why didn't u just use a desktop recorder or something, like u can use camstudio or something to record on da comPOOter

  • @AwesomeAnimatorMan Because usualy those are free trials that last X days and that's what I use now a days, also many of them (that I used specially Fraps) have problems with game-maker. which ether recording the screen black, or the picture was not full screen.

  • Great job I've only been able to make a game like asteroids so far. Don't feel bad about putting too much time into it though because I know how you feel. Making games sucks you into it. Lol

Btw: if u know a good gm programing tutorial let me know because I only know drag and drop so far.

  • @Sypran Yeah 16bit is cool, and early 32bit graphics are cool too, like Sega Saturn and psone. Anyway.... if your gonna do the less workload then, make it have style so some cynical A-hole(i am one of them) doesn't troll around. It puts a smile on everyone's face.

Also have you thought about animation render distance?

If a person is 2yards away then their animation is halved so the computer doesn't have to struggle?

  • Just wanna say, Hyper Cam's free, and good quality. Nice video though. :)

  • *SUBSCRIBED* nice code.....

  • @Sypran camstudio isnt a trial, its completelly free. :)

  • Those graphics look good. Even without GMORGRE and Unlimited 3D you can make pure d3d games. It is amazing.
