you can hear the difference only on the open notes that is why this test was mostly useless. You hear the difference between mahogany and mapple pretty nicely, but it is subtle. Nut material is not important when fretting obviously, and I find on this guitar the bone nut a must have, stronger clearer and more articulate bass line on open strings.

do you think deer bone or antler would be a good nut or saddle? mabey even bridge pins? or too briddle?

@colemontelongo graphite, ebony, bone, walrus, mammoth . . . I want unicorn

Kind of what I was wondering about. Some banjos have twangy snail shell nuts. what type of action is on these guitars?
-
just what I was looking for. what type of material was used on my 2000 estralita? its splitting like a fingernail (ouch) . and how does NRP dictate the action on these instruments?

I liked the ebony/mahogany.

Hi, yes indeed, a difference was noticable. It was a very interesting experiment. Thank you. Personally speaking it got me thinking. Al.

Funny to my ears the brightest was number 4 (the one with manogany neck and ebony nut), also i liked that best although normally i tend to prefer "dark" to bright sounding guitars. but i think the differences are very sublte, from those vids i could would not be able to tell them from each other in a blind test
Hi all, bone and antler has definitely been used regularly, but I can't comment on them for a saddle. I think the sound was too brittle on the few guitars i bought that had these materials for saddles. I think the hard rock maple does great there. Also heard of some old growth woods that also make great saddles from a banjo maker buddy. Action is a bit higher than a typical acoustic, but I'd say medium. Definitely not slide specific.
