I recently got a Blu-Ray of Wallace & Gromit's first 3 short films, along with that new one made in 2008.

When I was watching "The Wrong Trousers", I noticed Gromit's birthday card played "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" instead of "Happy Birthday to You" like I remembered it.

So I fished out my very very old VHS tape to make sure I wasn't crazy, and sure enough, the card plays Happy Birthday to You.
Not to mention that the altered version doesn't sound like something that would come out of a birthday card (clean, crisp xylophone coming out of a small electromagnet? Who knew?).

They also changed Feather McGraw's radio tunes.
It plays "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?" at one point, and Wallace hums the tune the following morning (which I thought was pretty funny).
It was replaced by generic organ tunes in the new versions.

Copyright: ruining your childhood memories since who knows when.

NOTE: The frame rate drops are a result of my screen capturing software. It doesn't perform too well in full screen.

  • Man are you going to overreact about this like in star wars and the controversy about "LUKE SHOT FIRST"

  • @oclictis is this overreacting

  • @HiLeonardo i meant if in youre LPs your going to talk about this or something. I guess this is like how books are badly made into movies and i havent seen 1 good book movie at all. But seriously this is a small difference, like luke shot first.OH MAN WHY DID THE ALIEN SHOOT BEFORE LUKE WAWA.Youre not acting like that but still if it were me i would barely realize it. A huge difference is like in the city of ember movie,WTH WHY IS THERE GIANT MUTANT MOLES+ROBOTS.Thats something to get mad for

  • @oclictis Oh, I'm not. Don't worry.

  • Can you also upload the original organ scenes

  • @oclictis Do you mean Han, perchance?

  • Ma VHS has the original

  • 'Happy Birthday to You' is copyrighted. It's obvious they couldn't secure the copyright for the DVD and blu-ray versions for some stupid obscure reason.

  • Thanks for uploading this, I love that part of the movie. The sound effect they used for the birthday card is classic. I'm excited for the Wallace and Gromit team to take on the hilarious book "The Pirates!: In An Adventure with Scientists" next.

  • @oclictis You mean Hans, not Luke.

  • THERE GOES MY CHILDHOOD.

  • @HiLeonardo Yes i know youre better than that, plus the happy birthday song has recently been trademarked by hasbro and tengen, so of course they'd have to change it when its re-released...
