After the tsunami hit the coast of Thailand in 2004, leaving massive devastation and helpless victims, numerous projects were initiated by locals and foreigners to help.
Among those the Academy & Community Center (ACC) in Ban Pru Teaw village close to Takuapa- Khao Lak, jointly built with the cooperation of Walter Kretschmar - (Thai German Institute- Innovation Technology Services), Siemens AG in Germany, BDI-APA and Lapp Cable GmbH.
The center's purpose is to provide vocational training for relocated tsunami survivors and practical training for the local families that have suffered from the loss of their breadwinners, or their own jobs being washed away by the Tsunami.
One of the volunteers at the center was Urike Muerz, who came back again because of her love for Thailand and teaching spirit, and to continue her special activity at the center called "Painting Umbrella for Peace".
