Obama's Promise to Transform the USA

On October 30, 2008 then presidential candidate Barack Obama promised a crowd of 35,000-40,000 at Missouri University, "We are five days from fundamentally transforming the United States of America."

In mid-March 2010 we are perhaps just days away from a major fulfillment of that promise as the House prepares to vote on the Senate-passed version of Obama's health care reform bill.

Final congressional passage of any one of the various versions of Obama's health care reform plan would constitute a government takeover of 1/6 of the U.S. economy -- a fundamental transformation of the U.S.A. and a severe blow to our system of limited government under the Constitution.

@klg1956 "A car is a privilege, not a right" is one of those tag lines propagated by bureaucrats. So then logically, if something is a privilege, does this make it automatically okay for government to restrict, tax, or prohibit the use of it? In other words, does a privilege of the ruled become the right of the rulers to control as they see fit?

@TWIZZLEism Obama does not like our constitution the way it was written; he calls it a document of negative liberties...that means it's what the gov't can't do to you which is basically our "freedom" and he wants to rewrite it so that it tells you what the gov't must provide (give) to you...positive liberties which is an oxymoron because if the government gives it to you, it can take it away from you, which limits your liberty/freedom. How hard is that to understand?

@krickerd My daughter said that the gov't mandates you to have insurance for your car and it's the same thing...I told her it's your choice to have a car because a car is a privilege, not a right.....therefore, you can drive and follow the law or you can walk or take a bus or subway...the gov't isn't telling you you have to buy a car like they are telling you you have to buy medical insurance or pay a fine. And the fine goes to the gov't instead of the insurance companies? Why?

@TWIZZLEism Look up Obama's mom...Stanley Ann Dunham, worked for the Women's World Banking/Ford Foundation, created a microfinance banking program (subprime lending principles) that destroyed the entire Indonesian Banking system; Indonesia had to restructure their entire system in order for their people to trust it again. The left uplifts her titles of microfinance guru yet never tell you what happened because of it..One, petite, female community organizer brought down a country.
