i find this very.. realistic

@ShaNagmaImmuru I agree with him at his point about shield walls though
-
@sniperquasi i have seen several of the dudes videos, and altho i like his reason, hes not well educated about how the hoplites work,,ook how he holds the hoplon in his other vid,he doesnt quite get it.he showed vases of hoplites dueling, marching, running, but not a battle formation as the Chigi vase shows for example.check the vase out. Also check this vid and read the description. the name of the vid is in greek tho, just copy paste the title: " Ασκήσεις Ακριβείας Αρχαίου Οπλίτου Α' and Β' "

It's from a (fairly eccentric) guy called lindybeige. The video is called 'More points about spears'.
I went to Greece as well, and i do remember having seeing some depictions of underarmed, though not as many as over.
But just try for a moment, pick up a broom or rake or something spear like. Now try holding it above your head and thrusting it back and forth for a while. You won't be able to do it as long as underarm, nor as accurately.

@sniperquasi It may sound more logical to u if u think that they were mostly fighting other phalanxes,so they were aiming for the face and neck,it also allowed the first three rows using their spears.you d be surprised what ancient and medival warriors endured on hours on end, think about that,i live in greece, went to heaps of museums,i never saw one depiction of someone holding a dori under a shield. i cant find the vid u proposed tho and im really interested to watch it,whats the title of it?
-
It's illogical to hold it over your head in a battle for hours on end. The angle you hold it at lowers your length. It also is unbalanced to hold it anywhere but the middle. The shields are round, and thus there are openings in the connections between shields. I've seen many pots with the spear underarm when they are in formation, but individuals hold it above the head.
this video also brings this up. /klOc9C-aPr4

@sniperquasi no,actually thats what you usually get in the movies, but the dori is held over the shield, that way you dont have to open the shields to strike, and therefore you dont leave any openings, google it if you like, and you will see that in all the ancient greek depictions of the phalanx, the dori is actually held on this position, without fail. check it out for yourself my friend and you will see
-
@ShaNagmaImmuru the dory are held under, not over the head.
-
@sniperquasi no it isnt
You made exhausted hillmen run into spartans? Not even charge into them?
Why did you even upload this video?

@debuxman dear good sir, i have made certain alterations to certain influential details of the nature of the video. i strongly advice that one would consider reading these said characteristics that can be easily found in the description bar. have a good day good sirs, cheerio!

@ConsvrgoTitanvRomani Hes just showing a fucking video of spartans kicking peasant ass. If you like, you can take your sweet time and record a video of you killing roman legionaries. Go shove a sword up your ass you sorry ass nerd.

@Assassin182nd easy now, that much we got sorted out. ;) but i do quite agree. while i did this video with the intent of showing spartans kicking peasant ass (partly to illustrate and partly coz of their game stats), i will not condone that kind of attitude in any of my videos. speak with swag bro ;-)
