@Ec1713<---then you have ADD, not ADHD, duh...

@133Joro has been proved false. Also what about us who have ADHD without the hyperactivity?

OK i have paused the video at 1:14
Has this guy ever heard of hyper focusing?
or how some with ADHD has the ability to remember somethings that are very complex better than other while forgetting the most simplest things ever?

While this is kind of good for explaining to parents who are not very well versed in neuropsychiatric disorders, I feel i just have to add a small note:
Sometimes people with ADHD will be heavily governed by motivation. Eg a person who practises guitar for hours on end but cant do the homework. I think that a better version would be something more long term, like do your homework everyday for a week. That would make the difference between adhd and nt very clear.

this guy is dumb... If my parents offfered me an xbox to do a hw assignment of course ima do the hw assignment?? seriously dude?

I personally believe MSG(MonosodiumGlutamate) is creating hyperactivity in our children. It's an excitotoxin being put into a multitude of food products we consume EVERY DAY.

Ha ha ha...
You, my good man, have hit the nail squarely on the head. I have spent a good deal of time trying to think of good ways to explain the difference between ADHD proper, and behavioural issues, etc. This is perfect. Thank you...

having a short attention span or being hyperactive are personality traits how do you know its some serious neurological illness and not just there personality personally i think parents would rather hear they're kid has a problem than hearing your kid just need to learn to focus, same goes with dylexia i think i parent would rather hear they're kid has and learning problem than they are just a little bit stupid

i will remember this tip. i know i got some sort of ADHD in my genetics.

If you do that test, please remember to help your ADHD child to complete the task afterward so he doesn't have to blame himself for it. It builds low self-esteem.
as the parent of a true adhd child i agree too many parents are rushing to doctors the minute their child starts acting hyper. my sons doctor even stated that to me. the other problem i have is parents thinking that meds are a cure all. my son is doing well at now age 7. we have what i have named our support team. 1. therapist 2. nutritionalist 3. open communication with teachers 4. structure at home 5. low dose meds as not to kill all of his personality(: and 6. lots of love and understanding

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad to read that you are taking the "team" approach to helping your son. Best of luck with him and thanks for tuning in.
